A Note From the Owner: The Blackwater
When we started designing the Blackwater, the goal wasn’t to replace anything in our lineup. It was to fill a gap our customers had been pointing out for years.
The Badger became a favorite because it’s compact, dependable, and disappears on your belt. But a lot of folks wanted just a little more blade length and a full-size handle without stepping into a larger hunting knife. They wanted something that carried like an EDC but felt more capable when camp chores, food prep, or hard work showed up.
That’s exactly why The Blackwater exists.
It features a 3-inch blade, a full-size handle, a slimmer profile, and a bare stonewashed finish. We also redesigned the sheath from the ground up with a slimmer polymer design and an adjustable retention screw, making it easier to carry and easier to live with every day. This knife was built around feedback from the people who actually use ours.
The name comes from Blackwater Falls in West Virginia, one of the most recognizable places in our home state. The Blackwater River gets its dark, tea-colored appearance from tannins released by hemlock and red spruce forests, giving it a look unlike almost any other river in the country. It felt like the perfect name for a knife that’s simple, understated, and built to thrive outdoors.
This launch also comes during a special year. As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we’re reminded why we started Bonds Creek Knives in the first place. We still machine, heat treat, finish, assemble, and sharpen our knives here in West Virginia because we believe American manufacturing still matters. Building tools people can rely on, and standing behind them with a lifetime warranty, is our small way of carrying that tradition forward.
The Blackwater isn’t about flashy features or chasing trends. It’s about listening to our customers, improving where we could, and building a knife that simply does its job better.
I think it’s one of the best everyday knives we’ve ever made, and I can’t wait to get it into your hands.
