The Blackwater wasn't designed to replace anything in our lineup. It was designed to fill a role.
We wanted a knife that could ride comfortably every single day while still being capable enough to head into the woods on the weekend. Something equally at home opening feed bags around the farm, cleaning a trout beside a mountain stream, making lunch around camp, or handling the hundred little jobs that somehow always show up throughout the day.
The best everyday carry knife isn't necessarily the biggest knife.

Finding the Right Balance
One of the biggest challenges in designing an EDC fixed blade is balance.
Make it too small, and it sacrifices capability.
Make it too large, and it spends more time sitting in the truck than riding on your belt.
The Blackwater strikes that balance with a 3-inch stonewashed AEB-L blade paired with a full-size ergonomic handle that offers excellent control without unnecessary bulk.
It's compact enough that you'll forget you're wearing it.

After building knives for years, we've learned something simple:

The added jimping along the spine gives your thumb positive traction when precision matters, especially in wet or dirty conditions.

A True 90-Degree Spine
We also wanted the Blackwater to be just as useful around camp as it is around town.
That's why the spine is precision ground to a true 90-degree edge, making it ideal for striking a ferro rod.

A knife is only as good as the sheath it rides in.
We completely redesigned the Blackwater's polymer sheath to be slimmer, cleaner, and more comfortable for everyday carry.
The adjustable retention screw allows you to fine-tune exactly how securely the knife locks into place, giving you confidence whether you're walking through the woods, climbing into a tree stand, or spending the day working around the shop.
The result is a carry system that's secure without being bulky.
A Finish That Gets Better With Use
The Blackwater features a clean stonewashed finish for a reason.
Knives are meant to work.
Over time every knife picks up small scratches and signs of use. Stonewashing helps blend those marks naturally so the knife continues looking good for years instead of showing every little scuff.

From machining and heat treating to grinding, finishing, sharpening, and final assembly, we keep the manufacturing process under our roof because that's the only way we know how to guarantee quality.

Some places don't need much of an introduction.
Blackwater Falls has become one of West Virginia's most recognizable landmarks thanks to its rugged beauty, dark tannin-colored water, and the wild country surrounding it.
The name felt like a natural fit.
